The Individuals Fund makes financial support available for Queensland-based artists and art workers to gain professional and career development opportunities. Grants of up to $7,000 may be applied for, including up to $1,000 for equipment purchases directly related to the creation and delivery of the funded project.

Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development

Festivals Australia provides funding to support individual art projects at festivals and significant one-off community events, such as a town’s centenary celebration or opening of a new community resource. The aim is to give community members living in regional or remote Australia the chance to participate in or attend an arts experience at a festival, or important one-off community celebration. Regional artists, arts workers, and organizations can apply for arts and cultural projects that encourage community participation and engage people living in regional and remote communities.
There is no limit to the amount of funding that can be applied for (the average funding request is around $40,000). Only one project, per organization, per festival will be funded. The program delivers two funding rounds each year usually opening in February and September.

How to Apply:
- Carefully read program guidelines in conjunction with the application form;
- Complete a work plan and a detailed project budget;
- Provide confirmation of artist participation for each of the participating artists and evidence of community support for the project;
- Make sure you complete the application: incomplete applications are not considered;
- Keep it short: only the first 10 pages of an application’s support material are assessed.

The Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grants

The Cultural Trust is committed to encouraging excellence and supporting a vibrant, world-class arts scene in Australia. The Cultural Trust offers grants up to $10,000 to assist talented emerging and early career artists to take up professional development opportunities, usually overseas. The Trust may also consider supporting postgraduate study where no equivalent exists in Australia.

The Queensland Arts Showcase Program (QASP) supports vibrant and accessible arts and cultural experiences for Queensland by individuals, organisations or collectives. The program is delivered through three streams- Arts Accelerate, Arts Activate and Arts Advantage. QASP provides up-front, one-off grants of up to $30,000 (sole-funding) and up to $60,000 (co-funding).
The program invests in:
- the development and growth of a vibrant and accessible arts and cultural sector in Queensland
- strengthening the Queensland arts and cultural sector’s connection with new audiences
- supporting artistic and non-artistic collaborations to develop innovative and quality arts and cultural experiences
- strengthening professional development and the creation of employment and training opportunities for Queensland’s small to medium arts and cultural sector.

Australia Council for the Arts
Closing: 6 September 2022 (for projects beginning after 1 December 2022).
Focus: Career Development Grants aim to assist individual artists, arts workers or groups of artists by providing support to further develop skills or improve capacity to build an enduring career in the arts. These grants can support a broad range of activities such as skills and professional development, mentorships, showcases, residencies and other projects directly related to your career development. Supported activities must last no longer than two years from the proposed start date.
Amount: Grants are available from $10,000 to $50,000
To apply, you must be registered in the Australia Council Application Management System a minimum of two business days prior to the closing date.
Your project must take into account the latest advice regarding COVID-19.

Phonographic Performance Company of Australia

Focus: The PPCA Performers’ Trust Foundation provides grants to promote and encourage music and the music-related performing arts.
Amount: Up to $3,000 for an individual; or up to $5,000 for a group or organisation
There is no specific format for applications, except that they must be in writing and include the Standard Cover Sheet.

The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) promotes the role and value of arts, culture and heritage as key drivers of diverse, inclusive communities and strong regions. RADF invests in local arts and cultural priorities, as determined by local council communities across Queensland. The Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland, provides RADF funding to councils in 2021 – 2022. Councils also provide financial and in-kind support to RADF delivery as local projects and initiatives.
Grants are available to local artists, organizations, or creative businesses in regional locations. RADF funding is a flexible, enabling local Councils to tailor RADF programs to suit the needs of their communities.
RADF does not operate in the Brisbane City Council area or in Indigenous Council areas. Applicants in the Brisbane City Council area are encouraged to apply through the Creative Sparks funding program. Applicants in an Indigenous Council area are encouraged to apply through the Indigenous Regional Arts Development Fund.

The Touring Queensland Fund (TQF) supports the delivery of high quality, tour-ready work to and from regional Queensland communities with demonstrated community interest and demand. The TQF includes support for exhibitions, performances and community engagement activities, as well as touring arts and education activities, and artists in residence projects targeted at schools and kindergartens in regional Queensland.
A component of the fund delivers outcomes under the Queensland Government’s Backing Indigenous Arts Initiative (BIA) and the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy (VACS) (a partnership with the Australia Council for the Arts.
Objectives:
- Ensure all Queenslanders have access to the arts by supporting high quality performing, visual arts and exhibition tours in communities across Queensland
- maximise employment opportunities for Queensland artists and arts workers
- support access for audiences to a vibrant and diverse range of arts product
- respond to the challenges on viability of touring models as a result of COVID 19 impacts.
Funding Streams:
- Performing Arts Touring – Single Tour
Supports single tours of performances and/or community engagement activities, including theatre, circus, classical and contemporary music and dance tours. - Performing Arts Touring – Multi-Tour Program
Supports programs of touring performances and/or community engagement activities, including theatre, circus, classical and contemporary music and dance tours. - Exhibition Touring
Supports regional touring for all forms of cultural heritage, visual arts and craft exhibitions, including exhibitions containing multi-media, moving-image installations and design. - Arts and Education
Supports regional schools and kindergartens to access high quality touring product and artists in residence programs with strong demonstrable links to the Australian Curriculum/Early Years Learning Framework.
Funding Available:
- Up to $20,000 for an artist in residence component of any application.
- Up to $150,000 total per application for a single tour or program of two tours.
- Up to $200,000 total per application for a multi-tour program of three or more tours.
- Quick response grants for tours or extension of tours seeking less than $20,000 are available through the Touring Queensland Quick Response Fund.

Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Live Music Australia Program will provide support to the live music sector, with a focus on small to medium venues that support high quality original Australian live music that is professionally staged. It aims to revive business ventures in local suburbs, towns and regions across the country, building capacity for a sustainable live music scene with strong community roots, in all parts of Australia. The first year of funding is aimed at preparing live music venues to become operational following the impacts of COVID-19 on the industry.
The program will:
- support the development, growth and innovation of Australian contemporary live music by increasing performance opportunities for original contemporary music by Australian artists
- support a sustainable venue-based live music industry by building professional capacity within venues
- support partnerships, collaboration and networks across the Australian live music industry.
The grant program will run from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2024, with $5 million available per year. The maximum grant amount is $100,000.

The Visions of Australia regional exhibition touring program supports audience access to Australian arts and cultural material, with a particular focus on tours to regional and remote Australia.
The Visions of Australia Program are to:
- increase access for Australian audiences to exhibitions of quality Australian arts and cultural material, with a particular focus on regional and remote Australia
- encourage partnerships between organisations such as museums and galleries, particularly collaboration across the collections sector, to form curatorial partnerships and where appropriate, access to mentoring and skills transfer opportunities.
There is no funding cap for individual applications.
Grants are delivered through two streams: development of exhibitions or touring of exhibitions, supporting costs such as research, design, production, transport, installation and personnel. Funding is available through annual or multiyear funding agreements, subject to available funds.

Ian Potter Foundation

Focus: The Ian Potter Foundation’s Arts program area aims to help build the calibre and capacity of Australia’s arts organisations and support them to raise the bar of aspiration and achievement in the sector.
- To support first-rate artistic institutions and organisations in metropolitan and regional Australia which are distinctive in artistic achievement, imagination and innovation in fostering development across a sector or art form.
- To support such institutions to host artists in high-calibre professional development and/or leadership opportunities of at least 12 months (e.g. fellowships, apprenticeships, mentorships, internships).
Amount: up to $100,000 to undisclosed applicants

Focus: The Indigenous Languages and Arts program (the Program) is part of a suite of programs under the Australian Government’s commitment to Arts and Cultural Development. The Arts and Cultural Development objective is to support and promote participation in, and access to, Australia’s arts and culture, including by supporting excellence in the arts, supporting indigenous arts, cultures and languages, and protecting Australia’s movable cultural heritage.
Amount: Up to $100,000 (total pool of $8,000,000)

Focus: In association with Arts Centre Melbourne, Playing Foundation supports Australian performing arts professionals develop creative collaborations with artists, producers and presenters from across the Asian region through the Playking Travel Grant initiative. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis with priority given to professional artists of distinctive talent and proven capacity who are proposing original, high quality and new creative collaborations which:
- bridge cultural divides through artistic practice
- are intended to result in a performance outcome in Australia and/or Asia in the foreseeable future
- profile a diversity of artists, cultures and creative outcomes

The Organisations Fund 2022 – 2025 is a key part of Queensland Government investment in the arts and cultural sector. The fund aims to support a diverse portfolio of arts and cultural organisations that demonstrate a critical role in contributing to Queensland’s arts sector. Through this program, Arts Queensland provides the foundational investment that enables key companies across the State to deliver artistic outcomes, employ creative and cultural workers, and engage communities to deliver on the priorities described in Creative Together 2020 -2030.
The program provides flexible funding across two distinct funding bands, as it seeks to invest in a range of arts organisation types, including service organisations, peak bodies, presenting or producing organisations, and festivals:
Band 1: from $60,000 up to $100,000 per annum (for small or emerging organisations)
- Organisations supported under Band 1 may be more experimental or innovative in scope or delivery model, and can include a range of legally constituted companies.
- Funding provided under Band 1 seeks to support both emerging organisations and those that are new to multi-year funding.
Band 2: from $100,000 upwards (for not-for-profit arts and cultural organisations)
- Funding provided under Band 2 will support established or larger scale organisations that can demonstrate a strong capacity to deliver against a strategic plan, a substantial program of activity including developing new works, and meet a number of Queensland Government priorities.

Queensland Portrait Prize in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse

Focus: The Brisbane Portrait Prize is all about celebrating Brisbane portrait artists and their sitters, while encouraging public engagement with the arts. Any artist with a connection to Brisbane is eligible to enter. The sitter must also have a connection with Brisbane.
Amount: $87,000 is available in prizes.

The Copyright Agency’s Create Grants offer opportunities for mid-career and established creative writers and visual artists to create and develop new work. The grants provide a living allowance to a writer or a visual artist to develop a new work for publication or exhibition. Funding amounts of $10,000, $15,000 or $20,000 are available.

Create Grants do not support academics to create work aimed specifically at the scholarly or academic market.
Projects should span up to twelve months.
Applications are assessed by a panel of independent peers from the writing, publishing and visual arts sectors.

The Creative Sparks Program is an arts and cultural grants program managed by Brisbane City Council in partnership with the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. The program supports innovative practitioners and producers to develop products, partnerships and new work that grows Brisbane’s reputation as a creative city. Grants of up to $10,000 are available.
The grant program aims to:
- Support practitioners and producers to develop products, partnerships and new work that grow Brisbane’s position as a global city for creativity and innovation;
- Ensure that Brisbane residents and visitors to the city have access to a diverse range of creative and cultural activities and experiences;
- Provide cultural, social and economic outcomes that benefit and add value to Brisbane.
All applications must demonstrate excellence and articulate the artistic, cultural, social and/or economic impact of the proposed activity or project and their outcomes.
