Building Digital Skills grants help organisations to start, continue delivering and expand Be Connected Digital Literacy Programs. Funding for projects is available in $2,500; $5,000; $10,000; and $20,000 contract sizes.

Organisations who would like to apply for a Building Digital Skills grant must:

  • Be a registered Network Partner within the Be Connected Network
  • Provide an ABN number (if applying for a $5,000 grant or greater)
  • Have public liability insurance
  • Have acquitted previous grant/s awarded by Good Things Foundation

Use the Building Digital Skills Grants for projects will help you assist older Australians complete 2 courses, or 10 activities on the Be Connected Learning Portal. Funding can be spent on activities that support older Australians to gain basic digital skills and confidence, such as:

  • New devices including computers, laptops, tablets
  • Upgrading software for devices
  • Internet fees
  • Digital mentor expenses, including training to be a digital mentor
  • Printing of learning materials for older Australian learners
  • Police checks for all staff and mentors involved in delivering the Be Connected
    program
  • Marketing/promotional costs

Funding cannot be used for capital works (building or construction materials).

Capacity Building Grants provide an opportunity for Network Partners to implement a train-the-trainer program to support and develop new digital mentors in their community.

This round has 25 places available for organisations to start their 12 month program in September 2021. Each Capacity Builder will be required to train and support 100 Digital Mentors (50 in outer regional, remote and very remote areas). Funding amounts of up to $50,000 are available.

Capacity Builders are ambassadors for Good Things Foundation and the Be Connected Network. They work with Good Things Foundation to support the Be Connected program, helping them to strengthen the Network and support community organisations to meet the needs of older Australians seeking to improve their digital skills.

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) currently allows for the allocation of additional growth funding to help meet increased numbers of older Australians needing access to CHSP services. Growth funding is allocated on the basis of identified funding priorities and gaps in service delivery.

This grant opportunity aims to meet the entry-level aged care needs of older Australians by increasing funding to meet targeted geographic and service needs of clients eligible for CHSP.

To be eligible to apply for this funding opportunity, you must be:

  • an existing CHSP service provider;
  • an approved provider of aged care services; and/or
  • an approved provider of services under the NDIS.

Total Amount Available (AUD): $113,600,000

Queensland Seniors Month will take place in October 2021. The month begins on the United Nations International Day of Older Persons and ends on National Grandparents Day.

This year Seniors Month is celebrating Connect Fest. This festival of connection aims to link people of all ages, cultures, and abilities through inclusive events and activities that celebrate the important and essential roles older people play in our communities.

Funded by the Queensland Government, eligible applicants can apply for up to $1,000 to assist in hosting inclusive events and activities.

Subsidies are open to not-for-profit, charitable and community organisations, schools, local government and libraries delivering services in Queensland.

Eligible organisations can apply for up to $1,000 and MUST be matched dollar for dollar by the organisation’s own resources. This can include:

  • sponsorship,
  • cash or in-kind support contributions such as venue hire, volunteers, equipment, and supplies
  • organisational contributions covering the operational costs including staff wages.

Applicants also need to:

  • demonstrate alignment between the event or activity and the 2021 Program Objectives.
  • demonstrate financial viability through a comprehensive budget.

Individuals, Sole Traders, Federal and State Government agencies are not eligible to apply.

Be Connected Program

Closing: Applications Accepted and Assessed Periodically

Focus: The Network Capacity Building grant is for large community organisations, with strong networks to become ambassadors of the Be Connected Network that aims to foster social inclusion of older Australians (50+) by teaching them teach digital literacy skills.

Funding can be spent on activities that support older Australians to gain basic digital skills and confidence, under three different types of grants: Activation, Building Digital Skills, and Capacity Building.

Organisations who would like to apply for a Network Capacity Building grant must be a Network Partner within the Be Connected network. If you are not yet a Network Partner, please click here to join.

Amount: $2000 to $50,000

Brisbane City Council
Closing: Apply from Monday 9 August 2021 to Tuesday 5 October 2021

The Seniors Celebration Donation helps senior citizens’ groups to cover the cost of activities such as social outings and Christmas parties. Funding amounts of $100 to $300 are available.

Invitations are open to the following entities:

  • club or group providing activities for seniors that is not funded by other sources
  • seniors’ group that is part of other organisations.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in November 2020.
